According to this meaning, it is a fishing technique practiced only from the sea shore, namely, rocks, beaches or dikes. To proceed, you have to cast your hook behind the waves. Surfcasting is generally practiced at high tide. As the tide rises or the water rises, the rig is positioned further and further from the shore. To improve your skills, you need specific equipment and a good knowledge of the tides. One of the most popular pieces of equipment for surfcasting fishing is the fishing rod. Measuring between 4 and 5 metres, it must be powerful to propel heavy rigs and keep the line above the waves. A surfcasting reel is obviously necessary.
